Job summary

South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a recently advertised supervisor to plan, direct, and oversee crews of Highway Maintenance Workers and essential equipment such as backhoes, excavators, loaders, patchers, and trucks. You will manage scheduling, performance documentation, and safety compliance per state standards.

The position requires 3.5 years of related experience or an approved equivalence, plus a Class A CDL within six months.

Qualifications

• Three and one-half (3.5) years of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement.
• A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
• Physical demands include bending, stooping, lifting up to 50 lbs and working in exposed outdoor conditions.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, direct, evaluate and manage activities of Highway Maintenance Worker crews and their mechanical resources.
• Prepare performance planning and evaluation documents and complete personnel paperwork.
• Ensure safety and compliance with State Standards, Policies and Procedures in all operations.
• Document activities daily in HMMS and communicate plans and updates to staff and superiors.
