Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Software Test Engineer to design, implement, and execute test plans for complex hardware and software systems with a strong emphasis on environmental testing and reliability.

You will develop automated test procedures, perform detailed diagnostics, and lead test teams in a lab and field environment, including occasional travel. The role requires hands-on testing, lab instrumentation, and collaboration with development teams in El Segundo, CA.

Qualifications

• Experience creating and executing test equipment configurations.
• Hands-on with test plans, procedures, reports, and data packages.
• Experience with environmental testing: TVAC, vibration, and shock.
• Python scripting proficiency.
• Linux knowledge in test/development.
• PCA troubleshooting background.
• Hardware-in-the-loop or hardware-based software testing.
• Strong written and oral communication with customers.
• Familiarity with AS9100 industry practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot with lab tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead testing activities on highly complex projects with innovative test solutions.
• Develop detailed testing plans, methods, and equipment configurations for reliability.
• Define and provide test areas and facilities with clear parameters and specifications.
• Analyze test data to determine necessary changes in testing equipment or procedures.
• Test customer hardware, including special tests outside standard areas.
• Coordinate with development and requirements teams to plan and validate tests.
• Perform analysis and diagnostics to identify issues and verify performance.
• Develop robust testing procedures, including scripted automation.
• Standardize testing processes and ensure consistency.
• Produce clear reports and track key test metrics.
• Mentor and lead test teams, resolving divergent opinions with sound engineering judgment.
• Develop approaches to test solutions with minimal supervision.
• Support testing outside normal hours; travel up to 15%.
