Job summary

Actalent seeks a Test Technician to build and maintain HIL bench setups and wiring harnesses for hardware testing and certification. You will work hands-on with electronic assemblies, test equipment, and embedded systems to ensure reliable, compliant, and high-quality products through rigorous bench, environmental, and regulatory testing.

The role emphasizes interpreting schematics, performing hardware/software integration, and executing a range of tests including EMC and vibration.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in electronics, hardware testing, or related technical roles.
• Proficiency with PCB soldering and rework on electronic assemblies.
• Familiarity with electrical safety procedures for lab work with live circuits.
• Ability to read complex schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
• Experience building and validating wiring harnesses for test and integration.
• Experience with hardware/software integration and system-level validation of embedded systems.
• Hands-on use of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters for testing.
• Experience with test automation tools or frameworks for repeatable testing.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware, electrical, and system issues.
• Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions based on findings.
• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail for complex systems and test data.
• Effective technical communication for reporting issues and documenting results.

Responsibilities

• Create, configure, and maintain HIL bench setups for hardware testing and validation.
• Develop, build, and validate wiring harnesses for test and certification activities.
• Read and interpret complex schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams to support test setup and troubleshooting.
• Perform hardware and software integration for embedded systems including telematics and connectivity components.
• Execute test procedures across EMC, environmental, vibration, HIL, SIL, and bench testing domains.
• Use lab equipment and test automation tools to collect measurements and data.
• Troubleshoot hardware, electrical, communication, and system integration issues using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and related tools.
• Analyze test results, identify defects, and perform defect analysis to determine failure modes.
• Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective actions to resolve issues.
• Support product reliability, quality, and regulatory compliance through structured testing and reporting.
• Document test setups, procedures, results, and findings with disciplined reporting.
• Communicate technical findings to engineering and project teams.
• Contribute to project planning by estimating test effort and prioritizing tasks to meet schedules.
• Follow electrical safety procedures while working with lab equipment and live circuits.
