Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. seeks a Project Technical Engineer to support Grid Quality Solutions across North America.

You will lead engineering activities for AIS and GIS substations from 69kV to 765kV, coordinating internal teams and external partners, and ensuring safety, quality, and compliance. The role involves design, construction, and commissioning work tied to value-based delivery and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical / mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 2+ years experience with Transmission High-Voltage substations.
• Knowledge of substation protection relays, relay configuration, load flow, short circuit analysis, arc flash, and protection settings.
• Understanding of substation automation, NEC/ANSI/IEEE standards, and cyber security requirements.
• Experience in EPC project environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead AIS and GIS substation projects from design through commissioning.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
• Develop control and protection scope documents.
• Serve as primary technical contact for Secondary Engineering.
• Support installation and commissioning teams in construction phases.
• Create work plans and cost estimates with quality deliverables.
