Job summary

WSP USA seeks a Lead Geologist in the Greensboro, NC area to direct environmental projects within our Earth & Environment Team. You will mentor staff, manage client relations, and oversee hydrogeological characterization, environmental assessments, and compliance programs.

Occasional travel to NC sites is expected. The ideal candidate brings 7–10+ years of experience, strong communication skills, and a proven track record in project management and business development, with the ability to lead

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Geosciences or closely related discipline.
• 7-10+ years of related experience.
• Ability to pursue and develop clients in the public or private sectors.
• Proficient in project management and/or business development experience.
• Knowledge and experience with Federal and State environmental regulatory programs (NC, SC, VA).
• Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Must pass physical, background check and have a valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
• Self-leadership with attention to detail, multitasking, and prioritization in a dynamic environment.
• Works independently with QA/QC adherence and provides leadership to junior team members.
• Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets and tools.
• Willingness to travel to project sites in North Carolina and surrounding area.

Responsibilities

• Plan, oversee, and mentor environmental scientists and engineers on field and office assignments.
• Provide technical review and mentoring to ensure compliance with environmental laws and standards.
• Manage projects both technically and administratively.
• Oversee cross-functional teams for scope, schedules, and budgets.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations of findings and recommendations.
• Lead business development and marketing strategies to win new clients for WSP USA.
• Represent WSP USA with clients, regulators, and subcontractors professionally.
• Travel to Southeast project sites as needed.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and site standards.
• Take on additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
