Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Lead Geologist for the Greensboro, NC office (also considering Durham, NC and Charlotte, NC) to lead environmental consulting services within our Earth & Environment Team. The role involves strategy and delivery on hydrogeological characterization, environmental assessments, and compliance, with extensive client and agency interaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Geosciences or related field.
• 7-10+ years of related experience.
• Ability to pursue and develop clients in public or private sectors.
• Proficient in project management and/or business development.
• Knowledge of Federal and State environmental regulatory programs (NC/SC/VA).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Plan, oversee, and mentor environmental scientists and engineers on field and office assignments.
• Provide technical review and mentoring to ensure compliance with laws, standards, and contract requirements.
• Manage projects technically and administratively.
• Oversee cross-functional teams for project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
• Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on environmental findings and recommendations.
• Plan and direct business development and marketing to capture new clients for WSP USA.
• Represent WSP USA with clients, regulators, and subcontractors.
• May travel to project sites primarily in the Southeast (NC).
• Ensure adherence to health and safety standards and policies.
• Perform additional duties as required by business needs.
