Job summary

WSP USA in Greensboro, NC seeks a Lead Geologist to plan, direct, and oversee environmental consulting services for public and private clients. You will manage hydrogeological characterization, environmental assessments, and regulatory compliance, collaborating with a team across field and office settings.

Travel to Southeast sites may be required; you will mentor scientists, review technical work for compliance with laws and standards, and contribute to business development and client

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Geosciences or closely related discipline.
  • 7–10+ years of related experience.
  • Ability to pursue and develop clients in the public or private sectors.
  • Proficient in project management and/or business development experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with Federal and State environmental regulatory programs.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Must pass physical, background check and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Self-leadership with attention to detail and multi-tasking in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, oversee, and mentor environmental scientists and engineers performing technical assignments on environmental projects.
  • Provide technical review/oversight/mentoring to ensure compliance with environmental laws, standards, and contract requirements.
  • Manage projects technically and administratively.
  • Oversee cross-functional teams for project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations to explain findings and recommendations.
  • Plan and direct business development and marketing strategies to capture new clients for WSP USA.
  • Represent WSP USA professionally with clients, regulators, and subcontractors.
  • May travel to project sites primarily in the Southeast.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety standards.
