Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Lead Geologist in Greensboro, NC (with flexibility for Durham/Charlotte) to lead environmental consulting services for public and private clients. You will mentor scientists, direct projects, and manage scopes, schedules, and budgets while engaging with regulators and stakeholders.

Travel to Southeast sites may be required. Ideal candidate has 7–10+ years of experience, strong technical writing, and a proven ability to develop clients in regulatory contexts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Geosciences or closely related discipline.
• 7-10+ years of related experience.
• Ability to pursue and develop clients in the public or private sectors.
• Proficient in project management and/or business development.
• Knowledge of Federal and State (NC, SC, VA) environmental regulatory programs.
• Strong communication skills when interacting with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Must pass physical, background check and valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Plan, oversee, and mentor environmental scientists and engineers performing technical assignments on projects.
• Provide technical review/oversight/mentoring to ensure compliance with environmental laws and company standards.
• Manage projects technically and administratively.
• Oversee development and execution of cross-functional teams; manage scopes, schedules and budgets.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations explaining findings and recommendations.
