Job summary

LAUKOA seeks a General Maintenance Worker III – Lead to supervise maintenance staff across FLETC Charleston and Naval Weapons Station, coordinating daily assignments and ensuring safe, timely completion of corrective and preventive tasks.

You will perform skilled trades, read blueprints, manage inventory, enforce OSHA safety, and support after-hours emergencies. Leadership experience and five years in building maintenance are required; a high school diploma or equivalent is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of recent experience in general building maintenance, including at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory role.
• Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and related trades.
• Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
• Strong leadership and communication skills; problem-solving ability.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in varied environments.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of General Maintenance Workers; assign tasks and monitor performance.
• Perform skilled maintenance tasks including basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, minor electrical work, and repairs to structures and equipment.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure facility readiness.
• Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and coordinate reordering.
• Interpret work orders and manuals to plan repairs and prioritize tasks.
• Ensure OSHA safety regulations and contract requirements are followed.
• Report progress to supervisors and support after-hours repairs when needed.
