Job summary

LAUKOA in Charleston, SC is seeking a Midday General Maintenance Worker I to support FLETC Charleston and Naval Weapons Station, performing entry-level maintenance and basic repairs under supervision to keep facilities safe and functional.

The role requires 2 years of recent maintenance experience, basic hand tools, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and a HS diploma or GED. Work hours are 3pm–11pm; U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency and DHS background clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in building maintenance or similar role.
• Basic understanding of hand tools and standard maintenance practices.
• Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced staff.
• Ability to perform physical labor, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in varied environments.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in performing basic maintenance tasks including minor repairs to fixtures, walls, doors, and hardware.
• Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of mechanical rooms, tool storage, and service areas.
• Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, and air filters as directed.
• Support maintenance team with tools, materials, and project setup.
• Report observed facility issues or safety hazards to supervisors.
• Follow safety protocols and site procedures in accordance with PWS Section C-5.B and OSHA standards.
• Maintain organization of tools, equipment, and supplies in assigned work areas.
