Job summary

LAUKOA seeks a Midday General Maintenance Worker I to perform entry-level maintenance and repair duties at FLETC Charleston and Naval Weapons Station. You will assist with routine upkeep under supervision, ensuring facilities stay safe, functional, and presentable.

Location is Charleston, SC with work hours 3pm–11pm and on-call availability. Requires 2 years of related experience, basic tools knowledge, and ability to lift 50 lbs. DHS background and US work authorization are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in building maintenance or similar support role.
• Basic understanding of hand tools and standard maintenance practices.
• Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced staff.
• Ability to perform physical labor, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in varied environments.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in performing basic maintenance tasks including minor repairs to fixtures, walls, doors, and hardware.
• Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of mechanical rooms, tool storage, and service areas.
• Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, and air filters as directed.
• Support maintenance team with tools, materials, and project setup.
• Report observed facility issues or safety hazards to supervisors.
• Follow safety protocols and site procedures in accordance with PWS Section C-5.B and OSHA standards.
• Maintain organization of tools, equipment, and supplies in assigned work areas.
