Job summary

Humana Inc invites applications for a Lead Full Stack Engineer to own the NBA platform’s orchestration and state machine. Built in Node.js/TypeScript on Temporal, the role drives durable workflows, long-running member journeys, and reliable action delivery at enterprise scale.

You will lead a small pod, contribute code, and shape architecture, observability, and delivery guarantees while collaborating with activation, data platforms, and platform teams in a remote/hybrid setting.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science or relevant area.
6+ years of full stack software engineering experience, with at least 1–2 years in a tech-lead or senior-lead capacity.
Strong Node.js/TypeScript backend experience building production services.
Hands–on experience with workflow orchestration platforms, with Temporal strongly preferred (or Cadence/Step Functions/Airflow).
Strong distributed systems fundamentals (event-driven, retries, idempotency, failure recovery).
Experience designing and implementing Kafka producer/consumer patterns in production.
Experience building reliable event delivery systems using Transactional Outbox or similar patterns.
Demonstrated ability to lead a small pod through delivery and be accountable for technical outcomes.
Experience operating cloud-native systems on Azure or equivalent using Kubernetes/containers/CI/CD.
Clear communicator representing pod architecture, delivery status, and risks to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Pod delivery — Own end-to-end delivery for the orchestration pod: planning, execution, quality, shipping on time.
Workflow orchestration — Build durable, long-running Temporal workflows in Node.js/TypeScript.
Action delivery architecture — End-to-end pipeline from decision publication to activation and receipt processing.
Activation integrations — Activate decisions to Adobe Experience Platform and publish via Kafka to downstream channels.
Hands-on development — Write Temporal workflows, Node.js services, Kafka components, and integration services.
Technical decisions — Make day-to-day architecture decisions for the pod (design, retries, idempotency, contracts).
Distributed systems reliability — Ensure exactly-once semantics, deduplication, durable state, safe retries.
Observability and operations — Establish monitoring, tracing, and alerting across workflows and delivery pipelines.
Team leadership — Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, maintain standards, unblock the team.
Cross-team coordination — Interface with decisioning, activation, and platform teams to surface risks.
