Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Lead Full Stack Engineer to own the NBA platform orchestration and state machine, built in Node.js/TypeScript on Temporal. You will lead a pod, implement durable workflows, and ensure reliable action delivery across engagement channels.

You will design and implement end-to-end delivery pipelines, activation to AEP, and deliver observable, scalable systems while working in a remote/hybrid setup with some travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or relevant area.
• 6+ years of full stack software engineering with 1–2 years in a tech-lead role.
• Strong Node.js/TypeScript backend experience.
• Hands-on with workflow orchestration platforms; Temporal preferred.
• Strong distributed systems fundamentals; event-driven architectures.
• Experience designing Kafka producer/consumer patterns.
• Experience building reliable event delivery systems using Transactional Outbox or similar.
• Proven ability to lead a small pod and be technically accountable.
• Experience operating cloud-native systems on Azure with Kubernetes and CI/CD.
• Clear communicator for technical and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Pod delivery — Own end-to-end delivery for the orchestration pod.
• Workflow orchestration — Design durable workflows on Temporal in Node.js/TypeScript.
• Action delivery architecture — End-to-end delivery pipeline from decision to activation and receipt.
• Activation integrations — Activate decisions to Adobe Experience Platform and publish via Kafka.
• Hands-on development — Write code alongside the team including Temporal workflows and services.
• Technical decisions — Day-to-day architecture decisions for the pod.
• Distributed systems reliability — Ensure idempotency, deduplication, durable state.
• Observability and operations — Monitoring, tracing, alerting across pipelines.
• Team leadership — Mentor engineers; code reviews and standards enforcement.
• Cross-team coordination — Interface with other teams; surface risks early.
