Job summary

Humana Inc. seeks a Lead Full Stack Engineer to own the NBA platform's orchestration and state machine, built in Node.js/TypeScript on Temporal. You will guide a small team, ensure durable workflow execution, and deliver reliable actions across member channels at enterprise scale.

You’ll drive end-to-end delivery from decision generation to activation and receipt processing, with hands-on coding and design leadership across Temporal workflows, Kafka, and activation integrations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or relevant area.
• 6+ years of full stack software engineering experience with 1–2 years in a tech-lead role.
• Strong Node.js/TypeScript backend experience building production services.
• Hands–on experience with workflow orchestration platforms, preferably Temporal.
• Strong distributed systems fundamentals and event-driven architectures.
• Experience designing Kafka producer/consumer patterns in production.
• Experience with Transactional Outbox / reliable event delivery patterns.
• Leadership experience for a small pod and cross-team coordination.
• Cloud-native operations on Azure with Kubernetes and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Pod delivery ownership for orchestration pod: planning, execution, quality, and shipping.
• Design and build durable Temporal workflows in Node.js/TypeScript modeling member action lifecycles.
• Own end-to-end action delivery pipeline from decision publication to delivery acknowledgment.
• Activation integrations to Adobe Experience Platform and Kafka output to downstream channels.
• Hands-on development with Temporal workflows, Node.js services, Kafka, and integration services.
• Make day-to-day architecture decisions on workflow design, state machines, retries, and API contracts.
• Engineer for correctness in a highly asynchronous environment with idempotency and durable state.
• Establish observability, monitoring, tracing, and operational visibility across pipelines.
• Manage and mentor engineers/contractors and lead code reviews to maintain standards.
• Coordinate interfaces with decisioning, the Action Library, activation systems, and platform teams.
