Job summary

Humana Inc. seeks a Lead Full Stack Engineer to own the NBA platform orchestration and state machine, built in Node.js/TypeScript on Temporal. You will drive durable, scalable workflows, activation to Adobe Experience Platform, and delivery across channels.

You will lead a small pod of engineers and contractors, writing code while guiding architecture, reliability, and observability. Strong cloud-native experience with Azure, Kubernetes, and CI/CD is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
• 6+ years of full stack software engineering experience with 1–2 years in tech lead/senior lead roles.
• Strong Node.js/TypeScript backend experience building production services.
• Hands-on experience with workflow orchestration platforms, preferably Temporal.
• Strong distributed systems fundamentals: event-driven architectures, async processing, retries, idempotency.
• Experience designing Kafka producer/consumer patterns in production environments.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery for orchestration pod: planning, execution, quality, on-time shipping.
• Design and build durable workflows on Temporal using Node.js/TypeScript.
• Own end-to-end action delivery from decision publication to activation and delivery receipt processing.
• Develop activation integrations with Adobe Experience Platform and publish through Kafka to downstream channels.
• Contribute code alongside the team: Temporal workflows, Node.js services, Kafka producers/consumers.
• Make day-to-day architectural decisions for pod design, state machines, retries, and API contracts.
• Ensure reliability in a highly asynchronous environment with idempotency and durable state management.
• Establish observability: monitoring, tracing, alerts across workflows and delivery pipelines.
• Lead and mentor engineers; conduct code reviews and maintain engineering standards.
• Coordinate interfaces with decisioning, activation systems, and platform teams.
