Job summary

Humana is seeking a Lead Full Stack Engineer for Platform Quality and Reliability to own the health of the NBA platform post-build. This role is hands‑on and requires active contribution each sprint, ensuring uptime, performance, and scalable reliability with strong testing and observability.

You will write production code alongside a pod, define quality gates, and mentor contractors while coordinating with delivery pods to prevent incidents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field is required.
• 6+ years of full stack software engineering experience with platform reliability focus.
• 8+ years of progressive tech experience on large projects.
• Hands-on experience with testing infrastructure and automation.
• Strong observability, logging, metrics, and alerting expertise.
• Experience designing error handling across distributed systems.
• Proven ability to lead a small pod and manage contractors.
• Comfort with a polyglot stack: Java, Python, Node.js, TypeScript.
• Excellent communication with engineers and senior leadership.
• Experience using AI productivity tools for testing and debugging.

Responsibilities

• Own uptime, performance, and resilience across NBA platform services.
• Write and ship production code as a hands‑on contributor.
• Build and maintain automated testing infrastructure across layers.
• Own platform logging, alerting, and monitoring stack.
• Design and enforce error handling patterns across services.
• Evaluate components under load and ensure scalable growth.
• Define quality gates and handoff criteria to production.
• Lead pod resources and review contractor work.
• Coordinate across pods to preemptively catch quality issues.
