Job summary

Saliense is seeking a Lead Software Developer to guide the design and development of complex software solutions for the Office of Naval Research program in Arlington, VA. This 100% onsite role requires a Secret clearance to begin work and US citizenship or naturalization is required.

You will lead architecture discussions, evaluate tools, and mentor a development team to deliver high-quality software within schedule and security constraints.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• 10+ years of professional software development with multiple projects delivered end-to-end.
• At least 3 years in a lead developer role.
• Active Secret Clearance or current interim clearance.
• IAT Level II certification (CompTIA Security+ or equivalent).
• Computing environment certification (e.g., Server+, Linux+, AWS Certified Developer).

Responsibilities

• Define and implement software architecture and design patterns meeting business needs.
• Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and processes to improve efficiency and quality.
• Write high-quality, maintainable code; lead code reviews and QA practices.
• Identify and resolve complex technical issues, bottlenecks, and bugs.
• Optimize software for performance, scalability, and security.
• Collaborate with project manager, product owners, and stakeholders on requirements and timelines.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure on-time delivery.
