Job summary

Flood Control District of Maricopa County is seeking a skilled Project Manager to oversee planning, design, and construction of complex public works flood risk reduction projects. You will manage multiple high-impact projects from concept through construction, coordinating with engineers, planners, and community stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has four years of project management experience in capital improvement, a relevant bachelor's degree, and the ability to obtain PE or EIT licensure

Qualifications

• Four years of experience managing large projects in capital improvement, scoping, design, and construction, engineering, architecture, urban planning, traffic/roadway, or related scopes.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Urban Planning, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
• A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, direction, and guidance in project development.
• Manage and coordinate consulting engineers, planners, and other staff to assure the proper execution of all phases of a project, including the design, preparation of construction documents, and various agreements.
• Plan the work and direct the development of the project design, scope of work, schedules, budgets, criteria, standards, and specifications; resolve complex problems, and assure conformance to county, state, and Federal regulations.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including reviews of project plans, specifications, technical/design reports, cost estimates, public exhibits, alternative analyses, and other deliverables with in-house staff and project partners
• Prepare, negotiate, and maintain project authorizations, including MOUs, Resolutions, IGAs, and other associated project documents, coordinate the development of these authorizations with partners, and make presentations to various Boards on projects and project authorizations
• Present projects at public meetings and board meetings, evaluate stakeholders and public concerns, and ensure project status by working with stakeholders
• Participate in consultant selections and contract negotiations

Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Urban Planning, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field
