Job summary
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in Melbourne, FL is seeking a Principal Instrumentation Mechanical Design Engineer to lead our flight test instrumentation design efforts. You will design mechanical assemblies for data acquisition hardware, sensor interfaces, and cabling for flight-test vehicles, and oversee integration and installation with vendors and technicians.
The role requires a STEM degree and experience, plus an active Secret clearance.
Qualifications
- BS in a STEM field with 5+ years of related experience, or MS with 2+ years.
- Active US Government Secret clearance (or eligibility).
- Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret clearance.
- Strong knowledge of flight test mechanical installations.
- Experience with strain gauges, accelerometers, pressure transducers.
Responsibilities
- Complete mechanical design life cycle from concept to integration.
- Coordinate cross-IPT collaboration for flight test instrumentation.
- Procure hardware to support mechanical designs.
- Serve as the main liaison with vendors and technicians for fabrication and installation.
