Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Instrumentation Mechanical Design Engineer in Florida to lead the mechanical design lifecycle for flight test instrumentation hardware. You will coordinate across IPTs, procure hardware, and liaise with vendors and technicians for installation and fabrication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline with 5 years of related professional/military experience, or a Master’s degree with 2 years of related experience.
  • Active U.S. Government Secret clearance (or eligible) and ability to obtain/maintain Secret clearance.
  • Solid understanding of flight test mechanical installations.
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation sensors (strain gauges, accelerometers, pressure transducers, etc.).
  • Familiarity navigating MIL-STD documents and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Complete mechanical design life cycle from concept to system integration for flight test instrumentation hardware.
  • Facilitate cross IPT / discipline collaboration in the development of flight test instrumentation designs.
  • Procurement of hardware in support of mechanical designs.
  • Serve as the point of contact with vendors, manufacturers, and technician teams for fabrication, assembly, and installation of flight test instrumentation equipment.
