SOCOTEC in Mechanicsburg, PA is seeking a Survey Party Chief to lead the field survey crew, organize work, and ensure the accuracy of collected data. The role focuses on safely managing surveyors and delivering precise results.

You will oversee construction, right-of-way, topographic surveys, and coordinate with officials, engineers, and contractors. A valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and several years of surveying experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Three or more years experience in surveying.
• Ability to operate surveying equipment safely and effectively.
• Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Oversees development and execution of construction, right-of-way, and topographic survey duties.
• Collaborates with stakeholders, including local officials, engineers, contractors, and supervisors, during planning phases.
• Determines appropriate surveying techniques to be used on each project.
• Collaborates with utility companies to ensure surveys are properly executed for public streets/easements.
• Gathers survey data using GPS and other surveying tools to map areas and measure angles, distances, elevations.
• Drafts reports, descriptions, and other documentation for all surveys performed.
• Ensures final maps display accurate descriptions of field surveys.
• Ensures crew work meets standards and tasks are completed timely.
