Job summary

S&M in Nashville, Tennessee, is seeking a Construction Materials Field Supervisor to lead a team of field testing professionals on active project sites. You will manage day-to-day operations, ensure quality control, safety, scheduling, and client coordination while advancing project milestones.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, plus a civil/geotechnical background and 2 years in construction materials testing, with supervisory experience and active CM certifications.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical engineering or a construction-related field is a plus.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction materials testing/inspecting soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt.
• Supervisory or management experience in a construction materials environment.
• Active CM industry certifications such as ACI Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician and ICC Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils) are a plus.
• Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) in English.

Responsibilities

• Direct and support field personnel by coordinating daily assignments and staffing needs, and coordinating project schedules with clients and contractors.
• Collaborate with Service Line Managers and Project Managers to monitor timelines and staffing requirements.
• Provide training and mentorship for field testing and inspection procedures; track certification records and compliance.
• Promote a strong safety culture by leading field safety initiatives and enforcing PPE usage and safety procedures.
• Verify field teams have testing tools, aid in equipment upkeep and calibration, and support QA efforts.
