Job summary

The City of Gainesville is seeking a lead worker to supervise a maintenance crew responsible for construction, maintenance and repair of city facilities. You will operate and maintain a range of equipment including backhoe, trencher, Bob Cat loader, air compressor, grinder, and provide on-site guidance to staff.

Two years of supervisory experience and the ability to obtain a CDL within six months are required.

Qualifications

• Two years of work experience operating equipment and supervising a street crew.
• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
• Valid driver's license; CDL Class A or B within six months when requested by supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Lead crew over subordinate staff and provide on-site guidance.
• Plan job assignments and explain specifications on site.
• Ensure compliance with safety practices and regulations.
• Operate and perform maintenance on machinery listed in job duties.
• Respond to emergencies during standby periods and perform overtime as required.
• Inspect storm inlets and related infrastructure; perform repairs as needed.
• Participate in staff selection, training and performance evaluations.
• Attend supervisory training as requested.
