Job summary

The City of Gainesville is seeking a semi-skilled and skilled lead craft worker to manage a small crew performing grounds and facilities maintenance within City Parks. You will report to a supervisor and perform skilled work requiring a high level of skill and knowledge.

Responsibilities include landscape tasks, operation of heavy equipment, preventive maintenance, and assisting with cemetery/park facilities as needed. CDL and CPR/First Aid may be required based on assignment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 3+ years experience in laboring work, with at least 2 years as a lead worker or supervisor.
• Experience using hand and power tools and motorized equipment including trucks, trailers, mowers and tractors; equipment maintenance, repair and construction work.
• May require CDL, CPR/First Aid certifications, or related licenses depending on assignment.

Responsibilities

• Oversees field operations in landscape maintenance and construction within City Parks.
• Provides leadership and guidance to crew members.
• Performs skilled trail, grounds and landscaping work including pruning, mowing, herbicide application.
• Operates motorized equipment and maintains vehicles.
• Performs preventative maintenance on equipment.
