Job summary

Symbotic is seeking a Field Engineer to lead on‑site automation installation, from mobilization through commissioning readiness, at live customer sites. This role demands hands‑on execution, decisive leadership, and the ability to coordinate multi‑vendor teams in fast‑paced construction environments.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, 3+ years of experience in electrical/automation installation, and proven field ownership beyond participation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline required.
• Minimum of 3 years trade experience in electrical/automation installation or related field.
• Proven site ownership of live installations beyond participation.
• Experience leading electrical, controls, commissioning, and third‑party installation teams.
• Strong ability to diagnose design vs. process vs. execution issues in the field.
• Decisive leadership, accountability, and ability to perform under pressure.
• Excellent communication with engineers, PMs, customers, vendors, and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead on‑site execution of automation, controls, and adapter‑cell installation from mobilization through commissioning readiness.
• Drive safe, high‑quality, on‑schedule installation across multiple trades and third‑party contractors.
• Own cell readiness for handoff to commissioning with minimal rework and zero safety incidents.
• Act as field authority for Symbotic’s installation scope on site.
• Direct and influence multi‑vendor, multi‑discipline teams without formal reporting lines.
• Make real‑time decisions when conditions change or schedules are at risk.
• Identify and resolve installation risks impacting schedule, quality, and cost.
• Own cost and schedule impact of field changes and rework within scope.
• Drive contractor performance and accountability.
• Validate installation through hands‑on verification, checklists, and testing.
• Ensure adapter cells and automation areas are commissioning‑ready with complete documentation.
• Capture lessons learned for future sites.
• Collaborate with Site Installation Manager, PM, Engineering, Safety, and Commissioning for site success.
• Lead automation‑specific kickoff meetings, progress reviews, and recovery plans.
