Job summary

S&ME, a leading geotechnical, civil, environmental, and construction materials testing firm, seeks a full-time Driller to join its Field Exploration team in Knoxville, TN. You will supervise drillers, mobilize equipment, and ensure safety and quality on diverse projects.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 3+ years of drilling experience, and CDL with a valid Driller license. Expect outdoor work year-round and travel with paid hotels and per diem.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of 3 years Geotechnical and/or Environmental Drilling experience.
• CDL and valid Driller license are required.
• Working knowledge of drilling methods including hollow stem auger, mud rotary, and rock coring.
• Effective communication in English (speaking, reading, writing).
• Ability to perform routine vehicle and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Drilling Operations: oversee and coordinate operations for assigned projects with lower-level drillers.
• Field Sampling: review field logs, samples, and data and communicate with management and technical staff.
• Equipment Maintenance: supervise maintenance and condition of vehicles and equipment.
• Quality: ensure drilling functions meet standard methods, specifications, and documents.
• Coordination of Others: manage daily activities of drillers and communicate progress to management.
