Job summary

S&ME Inc. is seeking a full-time Driller to join the Field Exploration team in Knoxville, Tennessee.

This outdoor role focuses on hands-on drilling operations with supervision from senior drillers, plus mentoring a crew of drillers and assistants. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, at least 3 years of geotechnical or environmental drilling experience, a CDL and valid driller license, and ability to travel, with paid hotels and per diem.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 3 years of geotechnical and/or environmental drilling experience.
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and a valid Driller license.
• Working knowledge of hollow stem auger, mud rotary, and rock coring methods.
• Strong communication skills in English (oral and written).
• Ability to perform routine vehicle and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Drilling Operations: oversee projects and supervise lower-level drillers.
• Field Sampling: review field logs, samples, and data and report to management.
• Equipment Maintenance: ensure vehicles and drilling equipment remain in good working condition.
• Quality: ensure drilling methods and project documents meet standards.
• Coordination of Others: manage daily activities of driller assistants on medium to large projects.
