Job summary

S&ME is seeking a Driller to join our Field Exploration team in Knoxville, TN. This full-time, outdoor role emphasizes hands-on work, reliability, and travel with paid hotels and per diem. You will support and mentor drillers, oversee equipment, and ensure safety and quality on geotechnical projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 3 years of geotechnical and/or environmental drilling experience.
• Licenses: CDL and valid driller license.
• Knowledge of hollow stem auger, mud rotary, and rock coring techniques.
• Effective communication in English (speaking, reading, writing).
• Ability to perform routine vehicle and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Drilling Operations: Manage operations for assigned projects and oversee lower-level drillers.
• Field Sampling: Review field logs, samples, and data and communicate with management and technical staff.
• Equipment Maintenance: Oversee vehicle and equipment maintenance to ensure good working condition.
• Quality: Ensure drilling functions meet standard methods, project specs, and contract documents.
• Coordination of Others: Oversee daily activities of driller assistants and report progress to management.
