Job summary

Houston Community College is seeking an experienced Facilities Service Technician III to operate and maintain building systems, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and structural components. You will interpret schematics, respond to complex work orders, and lead in preventive maintenance with high attention to safety and quality.

The role requires strong problem-solving skills, familiarity with PM tasks, and ability to work across campuses, including after hours and on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; 4 years may substitute for degree.
• Minimum 5 years of work experience in facility systems operations and maintenance.
• Valid Texas Driver License and safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Respond to facility work orders and service requests for electrical, HVAC, plumbing, structural systems.
• Complete complex repairs and preventive maintenance in core facilities operations.
• Interpret compliance requirements and standardize work procedures.
• Identify opportunities for process/system improvements and implement them when approved.
• Take readings from critical equipment and take corrective actions before outages.
• Troubleshoot fire/life/safety and building infrastructure systems.
• Lead and collaborate with facilities team to achieve department goals.
• Maintain tools and work areas, use PPE, and follow safety policies.
