Job summary

Houston Community College is seeking a Facilities Service Technician III to perform advanced installation, maintenance and service of building operating systems, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and structural systems. The role requires strong preventive and predictive maintenance knowledge and the ability to lead a facilities team.

Work includes interpreting blueprints, complying with safety rules, and coordinating across campuses.

Qualifications

Associate degree required; 4 years of relevant work may substitute.
Minimum 5 years’ work experience in facility systems operations and maintenance.
Minimum 5 years’ work experience in a defined craft.
Strong preventive and predictive maintenance knowledge preferred.
Valid Texas Driver License (Licensing & Certification).

Responsibilities

Respond to facility work orders and service calls across electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and structural systems.
Complete complex repairs and preventive maintenance in facilities operations.
Interpret compliance requirements and standardize work.
Identify opportunities for process/system improvements and implement approved changes.
Take and log readings from critical equipment and take corrective action before outages.
Interpret blueprints and schematics to assure accurate work.
Troubleshoot fire/life/safety, security, and other building infrastructure systems.
Utilize sophisticated tools and maintain calibrated gear; keep areas clean and orderly.
Observe safety policies and wear PPE; complete paperwork timely.
Serve as primary technical resource and lead facilities team members.
