Job summary

Lone Star College is hiring an HVAC Technician III to monitor, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair campus HVAC systems. The role supports multiple facilities, collaborates on projects, and promotes SOP adherence.

The position requires 5+ years of experience, a valid Texas driver’s license, EPA 608 Universal certification, and a readiness to work in varied campus environments. On-site work with potential after-hours calls and travel between campuses is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and at least 5 years of experience.
• Must have valid Texas driver's license and be eligible for insurance coverage.
• EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal). Preferred: Associate degree or higher; experience in education setting; HVAC certification; Texas A/C Contractors License class A.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine maintenance, inspection, and repair of HVAC systems including boilers, chillers, air handlers, cooling towers, and ventilation equipment.
• Diagnoses and troubleshoots issues with HVAC components such as compressors, motors, pumps, valves, thermostats, and control systems.
• Executes preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment life and reduce costs.
• Monitors energy management systems (EMS) for efficient operation and energy conservation.
• Ensures compliance with codes, regulations, and safety standards including EPA refrigerant handling.
• Collaborates with contractors/vendors for repairs, upgrades, and major installations.
• Trains and mentors junior technicians or maintenance staff.
• Maintains records of maintenance activities, work orders, and inventory.
