Job summary

Office of Juvenile Justice at Jetson Center for Youth in Baker, LA is seeking a Maintenance Repairer Master to lead facility maintenance, supervise staff, and coordinate repairs across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and grounds. This role also manages safety compliance and coordinates with vendors and outside agencies.

The position emphasizes hands-on leadership, project supervision, and emergency maintenance response to ensure safe, functional facilities supporting daily operations.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance.
• Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus one year of related experience.
• Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering plus one year of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance staff and assign, monitor, and review maintenance work orders and projects.
• Oversee building and grounds maintenance for campus facilities, equipment, utilities, and infrastructure.
• Perform and coordinate repairs involving electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, welding, and mechanical systems.
• Ensure perimeter security features such as gates, fencing, and grounds are properly maintained and functional.
• Operate and oversee specialized equipment including heavy equipment, generators, forklifts, tractors, and utility vehicles.
• Coordinate contractor and vendor activities and monitor work quality and project completion.
• Support purchasing functions by developing scopes of work and assisting with procurement of maintenance goods and services.
• Monitor compliance with safety codes and participate in inspections, audits, and regulatory reviews.
• Collaborate on construction and capital projects with facility planners, maintenance management, and outside agencies.
• Provide emergency response support and remain available to address critical maintenance needs and facility issues.

Education

3+ years building trades experience or training

2-year vocational program in general building construction/engineering

12 semester hours in construction management/engineering plus 1 year experience
