Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance staff and assign, monitor, and review work orders and projects.
• Oversee building and grounds maintenance for facilities, equipment, utilities, and infrastructure.
• Perform and coordinate electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, welding, and mechanical repairs.
• Maintain security features and ensure grounds are maintained and functional.
• Operate and oversee heavy equipment, generators, forklifts, tractors, and utility vehicles.
• Coordinate contractor and vendor activities and monitor quality and completion.
• Assist with procurement of maintenance goods and services by developing scopes of work.
• Monitor safety codes compliance and participate in inspections and audits.
• Collaborate on construction and capital projects with planners and outside agencies.
• Provide emergency response support and address critical maintenance needs.

The Office of Juvenile Justice is seeking an experienced and dependable Maintenance Repairer Master to lead facility maintenance operations and support the upkeep of buildings, equipment, utilities, and grounds. This role is ideal for a skilled maintenance professional who enjoys supervising projects, solving problems, and ensuring facilities remain safe, functional, and well maintained.

As a Maintenance Repairer Master, you’ll oversee maintenance staff, coordinate repairs and construction activities, support purchasing and contractor operations, and help ensure compliance with safety and operational standards. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the infrastructure that supports daily operations and services.

One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on‑the‑job experience:

• Three years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR
• Completion of a two‑year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus one year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR
• Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses plus one year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance.

Job Duties

• Supervise maintenance staff and assign, monitor, and review maintenance work orders and projects.
• Oversee building and grounds maintenance for campus facilities, equipment, utilities, and infrastructure.
• Perform and coordinate repairs involving electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, welding, and mechanical systems.
• Ensure perimeter security features such as gates, fencing, and grounds are properly maintained and functional.
• Operate and oversee specialized equipment including heavy equipment, generators, forklifts, tractors, and utility vehicles.
• Coordinate contractor and vendor activities and monitor work quality and project completion.
• Support purchasing functions by developing scopes of work and assisting with procurement of maintenance goods and services.
• Monitor compliance with safety codes and participate in inspections, audits, and regulatory reviews.
• Collaborate on construction and capital projects with facility planners, maintenance management, and outside agencies.
• Provide emergency response support and remain available to address critical maintenance needs and facility issues.
