The Office of Juvenile Justice is seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Repairer 2 to help maintain safe, functional, and well-maintained facilities and grounds. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and contributing to the daily operations of a dynamic facility.

As a Maintenance Repairer 2, you will perform a variety of maintenance, repair, and groundskeeping duties to support buildings, equipment, and campus infrastructure. This role requires a working knowledge of multiple trades, the ability to operate specialized equipment, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and professional environment for youth, staff, and visitors.

Two years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR

Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering; OR

Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.

Job Duties

• Performs facility maintenance and repairs — completes minor repairs to buildings, equipment, appliances, and campus infrastructure.
• Applies multiple trade skills — performs automotive, electrical, carpentry, and limited appliance repair work with minimal supervision.
• Inspects and maintains equipment — identifies repair needs, replaces parts, and ensures equipment remains operational and safe.
• Supports specialized maintenance activities — assists with welding, blueprint interpretation, field repair techniques, and communications equipment.
• Operates maintenance equipment — utilizes heavy-duty vehicles and specialized equipment required for facility operations.
• Maintains campus grounds — performs lawn care, groundskeeping, and general upkeep of outdoor areas.
• Provides custodial support — assists with cleaning and sanitation duties and performs other assignments as directed.

Position‑Specific Details

Work Location: This vacancy is located at Jetson Center for Youth in Baker, Louisiana.

Appointment Type: Full time, probational

Compensation: $19.67 - $35.40 hourly
