Job summary

Micron Technology in Boise, Idaho seeks a Principal Engineer to own and sustain semiconductor fabrication processes, solving complex manufacturing issues, improving yield and cycle time through structured problem solving.

You will analyze performance data, define parameters across equipment, and partner with cross-functional teams to drive corrective actions and process qualifications for new tools and materials.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing or process engineering.
  • Experience resolving manufacturing process issues using root cause analysis.
  • Working knowledge of statistical and process control systems (SPC, FDC, APC, or similar).
  • Ability to collaborate across engineering and production teams to solve complex problems.

Responsibilities

  • Own process performance and drive improvements in yield, quality, and cycle time.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues using structured methodologies (e.g., root cause analysis, FMEA, SPC, 8D).
  • Analyze process data to identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
  • Define, monitor, and adjust process parameters across semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve process excursions and implement corrective actions.
  • Support qualification and integration of new equipment, materials, and process changes.
  • Drive initiatives focused on yield improvement, cost reduction, and productivity.
  • Perform defect analysis and long-term investigations to improve process stability and reliability.
