Job summary

X-Factor Consulting in Baltimore, MD is seeking a Structural Engineer to own existing-building restoration work from investigation through construction support. You will diagnose deterioration, envelope distress, water intrusion, and performance gaps, then complete analysis and repair design to improve long-term safety and meet code.

Responsibilities include developing repair strategies, coordinating with architects and contractors, producing repair drawings and bid documents, and mentoring

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering (master’s preferred).
• Active PE license.
• 3+ years in structural, restoration, forensic, rehabilitation, or existing-building consulting.
• Hands-on experience assessing failures and designing repairs.
• Experience preparing technical reports, construction documents, and recommendations.
• Experience managing projects including budget and schedule.

Responsibilities

• Develop repair strategies that improve long-term safety and support code.
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, specialty consultants, and internal staff.
• Direct or produce repair drawings, specifications, bid documents, and construction-phase reviews.
• Perform field inspections and quality observations on occupied buildings, active sites, rooftops, and similar environments, and present findings to stakeholders.
• Review team deliverables and coach/mentor junior engineers.
• Contribute to proposals and ongoing client development.
