Job summary

SK&A Structural Engineers is seeking a personable, team-focused structural engineer to join our Repair and Restoration team in the Potomac, MD area. The role emphasizes field assessments, non-destructive testing, and development of repair drawings and specifications for existing structures.

You will work closely with PMs and principals to deliver sound, cost-effective design solutions, with opportunities to grow in deep restoration projects and dynamic analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering; MS preferred.
• 0–5 years in structural engineering/restoration.
• WACEL Concrete Level I certification or ability to obtain within 3 months.
• Reinforced Concrete Technician and Structural Concrete Technician certifications within one year.
• Physically capable of field inspections; able to lift and access roofs.

Responsibilities

• Perform condition assessments of existing structures and prepare survey reports.
• Conduct field tests and non-destructive evaluation during surveys and repairs.
• Develop survey drawings and repair budgets; assist with project specifications.
• Oversee structural repairs including concrete, steel, masonry, waterproofing, and coatings.
• Coordinate with project team and clients; ensure conformance with drawings and specs.
• Travel to project sites within the DC/MD/VA region; work nights/weekends as needed.
