Job summary

VEG for Pets is seeking a Lead Emergency Veterinarian to guide clinical teams and champion VEG’s patient-centered approach. You’ll work closely with the medical director to uphold high standards, mentor doctors, and drive exceptional outcomes for both pets and their families.

You’ll lead by example, ensuring rapid access to care, maintaining documentation, and fostering a culture of mentorship and continuous learning across the hospital network.

Qualifications

• DVM, VMD, or equivalent degree.
• 2+ years of ER experience with critical case management.
• Leadership experience is preferred but not required.
• Training in emergency surgery/endoscopy.
• Flexible to work a mix of clinical and admin shifts.
• Willingness to lead, mentor teammates, and handle admin tasks during off hours.
• Must work in a noisy environment with strong odors.
• Available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, diverse team environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead clinical shifts as an emergency doctor, triage and diagnose emergencies.
• Coach doctors on VEG's standards and the VEG Way.
• Develop and review medical records; communicate treatment options to clients.
• Oversee doctor schedules, coverage, and team growth plans.
• Address customer concerns and ensure high-quality patient care.
