Job summary

VEG is seeking a Lead Emergency Veterinarian in a fast-paced ER environment. You will own and support your team, champion VEG medical processes, and mentor fellow doctors to excel in clinical excellence. You’ll drive a patient- and family-centered approach while upholding the VEG way across cases.

You’ll collaborate with the Medical Director, lead rounds and NERD training if needed, and ensure top-tier care and operational success, with opportunities for growth and impact across VEG hospitals.

Qualifications

• DVM, VMD, or equivalent degree is required.
• 2+ years ER experience and critical case management.
• At least 1 year of leadership experience preferred.
• Training in emergency surgery/endoscopy is desirable.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to lead and perform administrative tasks (scheduling, etc.).
• Strong communication with clients and team.

Responsibilities

• Work clinical shifts and develop diagnostic/therapeutic plans for emergency cases.
• Coach fellow doctors on the VEG Way and lead monthly doctor meetings.
• Assist Medical Director when coverage is needed or during leaves.
• Lead the New ER Doctor training (NERD) program if applicable.
• Create and manage doctor schedules with advance posting.
• Address customer complaints and ensure patient care and hospital revenue.
