Job summary

The City of Winter Garden seeks an experienced Fleet Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and overhaul a broad range of automobiles and heavy equipment. You will supervise fleet shop staff, coordinate with user departments, and ensure work orders are completed efficiently with accurate records.

CDL Class B with air brakes and ASE/ EVT certifications are required. Experience with diesel engines, ECM testing, and welding may be needed to support preventive maintenance and emergency repairs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5+ years in heavy truck and equipment repair; 3+ years in automotive/light truck repair.
• Valid Florida CDL Class B license with air brake endorsement.
• ASE Certification required.
• EVT Certification required.
• 1-3 years supervisory experience.
• FMCSA drug/alcohol testing requirements for CDL positions.

Responsibilities

• Perform general and major overhauls and repairs on automobiles, light/heavy equipment.
• Inspect, adjust and replace units and related parts (valves, pistons, bearings, seals).
• Tune motors using standard testing equipment.
• Repair brakes, transmissions, differentials, and axles.
• Repair and install hydraulic controls; service electrical equipment.
• Provide supervision to fleet shop and coordinate work orders with end users.
• Assist and train lower level mechanics.
