Job summary

Ellaway Blues Consulting seeks a Project Engineering Manager (Mechanical or Electrical) to lead engineering delivery for power generation projects from kickoff to startup. You will act as Engineer of Record, coordinating civil, structural, controls, piping, mechanical, and electrical teams to ensure integrated, compliant deliverables.

You will manage budgets, schedules, and change control, while mentoring junior engineers and driving project execution improvements across standards and templates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
• Active PE license or eligible to be licensed within 12 months.
• 5+ years in power generation/utilities or energy in an EPC setting.
• Experience as lead engineer, project engineer, or engineering PM.
• Familiarity with gas-fired or comparable power plants.

Responsibilities

• Own engineering delivery from design through startup.
• Act as Engineer of Record, review and seal work.
• Coordinate across disciplines (civil, structural, controls, piping, mechanical, electrical).
• Set and track budgets, schedules, and work plans; report progress.
• Verify designs meet codes, specs, and quality requirements.
• Review calculations, drawings, specs, and vendor submittals; resolve issues.
• Evaluate vendor proposals and manage supplier data.
• Assess cost/schedule impact of changes; manage approvals.
• Identify risks early and drive mitigation; support procurement and commissioning.
• Lead design reviews and mentor junior engineers/designers.
• Improve engineering standards and project execution methods.
