Job summary

Xero is seeking an experienced backend engineering leader to shape the technical foundation for money movement capabilities. You will design scalable, secure services, guide architectural decisions, and influence product lines globally.

You will work closely with product, security, risk, and operations to deliver impactful outcomes and production-grade solutions. You will focus on building out payment orchestration, fraud/risk controls, multi-provider integrations, and high-throughput services

Qualifications

• Track record delivering highly available, distributed backend systems.
• Strong understanding of system architecture, API design, and SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Hands-on with production code, prototypes, and deep dives; mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design and build payment platform capabilities like orchestration and multi-providers.
• Build a global bill payment product for small businesses.
• Develop core high-throughput platform services.
• Champion AI to accelerate engineering productivity and workflows.
