Job summary

ICF is seeking a Lead Energy Engineer to support DER project development for commercial and industrial clients in the Phoenix metro area. The role involves coordinating with customers, vendors, and internal teams to advance energy efficiency, decarbonization, and EVSE initiatives.

Qualified candidates have a strong background in energy engineering, 8+ years of experience, and related professional credentials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Architectural Engineering or related discipline (or substitute one year of related experience for one year of education).
• 8+ years of experience in energy engineering, with a focus on custom project development and technical analysis.
• 5+ years of experience in energy efficiency outreach and on-site work.
• Must have valid driver’s license and pass Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.

Responsibilities

• Develop DER projects focused on public sector facilities in the Phoenix metro area.
• Perform field audits to document current operations and opportunities for energy efficiency.
• Lead identification, scoping, and development of decarbonization projects.
• Write and execute M&V plans to document baseline and measure case conditions.
• Forecast project activities, budgets, and timelines with stakeholders.
• Provide technical analysis to quantify savings, costs, and other parameters.
• Model energy performance using industry tools and internal calculators.
