Job summary

The Lead Emergency Veterinarian role at VEG in Virginia positions you to lead clinical operations and mentor doctors while championing a patient-centered emergency experience for pets and their families.

You will work with the Medical Director to elevate veterinary care, oversee schedules, and drive VEG’s standards in a fast-paced hospital setting, focusing on mentorship, growth, and exceptional service.

Qualifications

• DVM or VMD (or equivalent) is required.
• 2+ years of ER experience and critical case management is required.
• One year of leadership experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead clinical shifts and ensure pediatric and exotics care standards as applicable.
• Coach and develop fellow doctors, promoting VEG's customer-focused experience.
• Coordinate with the Medical Director on coverage, mentorship, and growth plans.
• Create and review medical records; communicate diagnoses and treatment options to clients.
• Lead monthly doctor meetings and contribute to ongoing clinical excellence.
