Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group The PC in Pittsburgh is seeking a Lead Emergency Veterinarian to guide a team of doctors and maintain clinical excellence. You will champion VEG’s medical processes, mentor colleagues, and ensure rapid access to care for patients and their families.

You’ll lead by example, drive growth, and foster mentorship while aligning care with VEG’s customer-centered approach. This role emphasizes leadership, clinical expertise, and a commitment to outstanding emergency

Qualifications

• 2+ years of ER experience and critical case management.
• Leadership experience preferred.
• Training in emergency surgery/endoscopy.
• Flexible to work a combination of clinical and administrative shifts.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.

Responsibilities

• Work clinical shifts as an emergency doctor at VEG.
• Answer medical questions over the phone.
• See patients promptly via VEG Triage and VEG Spikes.
• Create diagnostic and therapeutic plans for each patient.
• Communicate diagnosis and treatment options with customers.
• Provide appropriate treatments for each pet.
• Create and review medical records for accuracy.
• Coach doctors on medical excellence and VEG processes.
• Lead monthly doctor meetings and M&M rounds.
• Assist Medical Director with coverage and scheduling.
• Own the New ER Doctor training program if needed.
• Create doctor schedules and manage leave requests.
• Address customer complaints related to medical concerns.
