Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to shape and scale engineering platforms for embedded software in software-defined vehicles. The role requires hands-on leadership to drive architecture, standards, and measurable improvements across multiple teams.

You will own architecture, roadmaps, and execution for major platform capabilities, while mentoring engineers and coordinating with validation, cybersecurity, cloud, and program teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical field; 15+ years of software experience is described in the role.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Experience delivering high-quality safety-critical or mission-critical software.

Responsibilities

• Define target-state architecture, roadmaps, and priorities for the assigned capability.
• Lead architecture reviews and cross-functional alignment across teams.
• Deliver production-quality software, automation, and platform components.
• Coach senior engineers and help grow technical leadership across the organization.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical field
