Blue Origin LLC is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the control and data plane software for the TeraWave satellite network. You will guide architecture, optimize real-time systems, and collaborate with cross-functional teams across sites in Seattle, the Bay Area, and San Diego.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years embedded software development in C/C++ for Linux/RTOS/Bare-metal.
• Strong proficiency in C++ object-oriented design and implementation.
• Hands-on debugging with JTAG, SWD, and embedded tools (Lauterbach/Trace32, J-Link).
• Experience with Linux networking and high-speed data-plane interfaces (Ethernet, DMA/RDMA, RoCE).

Responsibilities

• Own software architecture and design one or more system areas; conduct trade studies and prototypes to identify architectural options.
• Collaborate with hardware, silicon and systems teams; lead integration campaigns and troubleshoot issues.
• Lead multi-threaded embedded software development in C/C++ for Linux/RTOS/Bare-metal on multi-core SoCs.
• Define scaling, fault-tolerance and recovery strategies.
• Define performance KPIs and methods to measure and optimize resources.
• Contribute to documentation, code reviews, and architecture decisions.
• Champion CI/CD, testing, and data analysis automation; drive testing best practices.
• Mentor a team of software engineers and uphold technical excellence.
