Job summary

Align Technology, Inc. is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer in San Jose, CA. You will lead firmware architecture and development from concept to manufacturing, driving performance, power, security, and reliability for high‑volume embedded systems.

The role requires deep embedded expertise, strong leadership, and collaboration with hardware, systems, and product teams to deliver innovative dental hardware devices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field (Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science)
• 5+ years of embedded software development experience in consumer electronics or high-volume embedded systems
• Expert-level proficiency in C/C++ for embedded applications
• Strong knowledge of microcontroller/microprocessor architectures, RTOS, and memory management
• Experience with wireless tech (BLE, Wi‑Fi) and device drivers interfacing with sensors/peripherals

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, development, and debugging of embedded firmware for new products and major enhancements.
• Drive firmware direction and critical design decisions on performance, power, reliability, security, and manufacturability.
• Develop and optimize drivers, middleware, and platform software for MCUs, processors, peripherals, and sensors.
• Design and implement real-time, low-power, wireless solutions for resource-constrained systems.
• Lead hardware-software integration, system bring-up, debugging, and performance optimization.
