Job summary
Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Design Engineering Specialist – Electromagnetic Design to lead the electromagnetic design, analysis, and optimization of our electric motor and generator portfolio.
You will partner with mechanical, thermal, controls, and validation teams to deliver high-performance machine solutions for construction, mining, and industrial applications. The role requires hands-on leadership, mentoring of engineers, and the development of in-house design tools using MATLAB and
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication of complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Experience and knowledge of product development life cycle in manufacturing.
- Ability to mentor engineers and drive technical capability.
Responsibilities
- Serve as technical authority for electromagnetic design of electric machines.
- Lead design, analysis, and optimization of motors and generators across multiple topologies.
- Develop NTI roadmaps and advance machine performance via novel electromagnetic design approaches.
- Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, controls, and validation teams to deliver integrated solutions.
