Job summary

Rehabilitation & Correction - Pickaway Correctional Institution in Orient, Ohio, seeks a licensed electrician to lead maintenance within a secure correctional setting. You will oversee lower-level electricians and inmate workers, installing, testing, and repairing electrical systems and equipment.

The role requires reading blueprints, managing materials and inventory, and ensuring compliance with security regulations.

Qualifications

• 18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. verifiable exp. in electrical work under supervision of experienced electrician; formal arithmetic education including addition, subtraction, multiplication & division; reading & writing English vocabulary.

Responsibilities

• Lead worker over lower-level electricians and/or crew and/or incarcerated individuals engaged in installation, maintenance and repair of electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls and equipment
• Install, test, troubleshoot, maintain and repair electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls and equipment (motors, appliances, fans, transformers, HVAC, alarms)
• Determine and complete materials needed, cost estimates, and submit purchase requests
• Read blueprints and schematics; maintain inventory of electrical supplies
• Maintain tool count and inventory control for tools used by incarcerated individuals
• Perform other maintenance duties (carpentry, painting, electrical, sheet metal, HVAC)
• Ensure compliance with security regulations
• Install and troubleshoot basic telecommunications & data processing equipment in institutional setting
• Serve on institutional committees and attend trainings/meetings
• Perform security functions as required and other duties as assigned (snow/ice removal, grass cutting)
